Scrape away some of the grout in a long line using a utility knife grout saw or rotary grinder. Tiles installed with thinset or another tile adhesive often require more work to remove them.

Once the tile is down take a 5 in 1 tool and scrapper to remove any excess grout. Next complete the x shape pattern using a cold chisel and hammer. Well once you remove the tile pieces and before you can install the soap dish you have to smooth the surface with the coal chisel and scrape away any loose chips. In some cases the only way to tear out the ceramic tile is with heavy equipment such as a jackhammer or air chisel. Always wear safety glasses when removing ceramic tile.
