Here s a summary of the steps for replacing windows.
Remove vinyl window from frame.
Cut away the old foam tape or sealer securing the glass unit.
Lightly sand the frames with 220 or 240 grit sandpaper to get the primer to adhere.
You won t be reusing it.
Step 2 pull the tabs.
Use the flat edge of a screwdriver or a putty knife to gently slide under the edge of the strip and pop it out of the frame.

Purchase vinyl safe reflective polyurethane enamel paint and primer rated for vinyl surfaces.

Run the tip of a putty knife around the edge of the inner sash frame to loosen it.
Wash and dry the frames.
Step 3 tilt the sash.
Slide a thin bladed putty knife in between the edge of the window frame and the stop and carefully pry the stop away from the frame.
Remove the window stops from the window frame.
Free the window from the frame by removing the snap molding from around the fixed window.
It ll be reused in the same place.
Tape off the windows.
Step 5 determine if the glass can be replaced.
Step 4 remove the sash.
